The event was a wonderful way to celebrate the day of love while staying active and healthy.
The atmosphere was electric, with runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels coming together to enjoy the beautiful scenery and each other’s company.
The red dress code added a fun and festive touch to the event, making it a truly special and memorable experience.
Parkrun is a weekly event that takes place in various locations around the world, aiming to promote physical activity, community engagement, and social interaction.

The Rietvlei Valentine’s Day parkrun was a perfect example of this, showcasing the power of exercise and community to bring people together and celebrate life’s special moments.
Veteran Parkrun participant and volunteer, Amy Berry spoke about what the Parkrun represents.
“Rietvlei parkrun is a free timed 5km walk/run that starts promptly at 08:00 every Saturday at Rietvlei Zoo Farm. It is a community event that is run entirely by volunteers. From time to time we have special events to celebrate, for example, Valentine’s Day when we dress up in red,” said Berry.
