Alberton karate medalists shine in challenge
Cobras members receive medals
Students from the Cobras Shotokan Karate Club in Alberton recently took part in the annual Shihan Willem All Styles Kata Challenge held in Pretoria.
A total of 21 students from the club competed and returned home with 16 medals, 11 gold and five bronze.
The club members who held their own are Ruben Vermaak (bronze), Ivy-Lynne Griffin (gold), Alexcia Andrade (gold), Sahara Peel (bronze), Bokamoso Makhene (bronze), Makoena Maona (bronze), Liana Gouveia (gold), Alexander Aucamp (gold), senior instructor sensei Laurent Gaston-Bellegarde (gold), sensei Vuyelwa Qayiso (gold), Nkosinathi Mahlaba (gold), Isha Sing (gold), Ryan Hovell-Erasmus(bronze), Tyron Dos Santos (gold), Darshal Chinia (gold), sensei Andrea Tiedt and Joshua Baloyi (gold).
The club trains on Monday and Wednesday evenings 5.30pm to 6.30pm at Ascot Mews Conference and Wedding Venue, 19 Heidelberg Road, New Market Alberton.
