Allied Global Marketing donates funds to Hoërskool Die Fakkel for food and uniforms

Hoërskool Die Fakkel receives boost from AGM charitable foundation.

Hoërskool Die Fakkel in Forest Hill has received a R20 000 donation from Allied Global Marketing (AGM) to support learners struggling with food insecurity and the cost of uniforms.

The donation comes after a formal request from principal JM Radebe, who wrote to donors earlier this year highlighting the school’s urgent needs.

GM members visited the school to meet the learners they’re helping.

The R20 000 will be split to address two critical areas identified by the school’s teachers:

• School food supplies – Part of the funds will replenish supplementary food stocks to improve dietary conditions and ensure learners’ daily nutritional needs are met. The school had requested R5 000 per month for feeding support.

• School uniforms – The remaining funds will be used to buy uniforms for impoverished students, reducing the economic burden on families in difficulty and allowing every learner to attend school with dignity.

“The donated funds will specifically be used for school supplies and student aid,” the AGM stated in a media release. “This donation aims to provide tangible assistance to impoverished students, help schools improve their operational support, and convey warmth and goodwill through concrete actions.”

Principal Mr J M Radebe signed the school’s donation request, which was stamped by the Gauteng Department of Education.

The school’s motto, ‘ONS KAN’ (translated to ‘WE CAN’), was emphasised to all learners who will benefit from the donation.

With 45 learners per class on average, the school says support like AGM’s helps learners focus on studies without the stress of hunger or lack of a proper uniform.
