Taking Back the Night operation targets crime hotspots
Collaborative patrols and stop-and-search actions by multiple agencies and are helping reduce high-risk crimes and improve community safety.
In an ongoing effort to improve safety in Gauteng, law enforcement agencies and private security companies have joined forces through the Stakeholders Cross-Border Operation, also known as Taking Back the Night.
The operation focuses on crime hotspots across Alberton, Brackendowns, Mondeor, Germiston, Moffat View, and surrounding areas.
The initiative brings together members of SAPS from different stations, the JMPD, EMPD, Gauteng Traffic Police, Tracker, CPS Security, and several other private security partners.
Their shared goal is to reduce crime during high-risk hours, especially at night.

Teams conduct high-visibility patrols, stop-and-search operations, and intelligence-driven deployments.
These coordinated actions focus on preventing and responding to freeway hijackings, house and business break-ins, gate motor theft, and other priority crimes affecting local communities.
Authorities said the success of the operation is based on teamwork, coordination and proactive policing.
By working together across borders and sectors, law enforcement and private security aim to stay ahead of criminal networks. The operation continues, with partners committed to making communities safer.
