Golfer looks forward to more memorable moments out on the green

YELLOWWOOD PARK golf lover, Nigel Lotz enjoys spending his downtime on the fairways with close friends and fellow golfers. He is a member of Durban SAPS Golf Club, he plays socially for Yellowwood Park Sports Club and is also a member of Play More Golf.
“I play in a permanent 4 ball for Play More Golf with Rob Bellars, Neville Montague and my PMG partner Warren Lester, all from Yellowwood Park. The rivalry in our 4 ball is legendary.
“I love the sport because you can be humbled very quickly. I have had some really good rounds and so very bad rounds, but despite the bad rounds you always 1 shot in that round that makes you say, “I’ll be back”. There is nothing I dislike about golf, it’s always fun to sit after the round and chat to your 4 ball, listening to the stories of what could have been or how well they played a hole or shot.”

All my golf experiences are memorable, just been able to meet up with friends and play golf and have some good fun. “I was introduced to golf when my Dad and Uncle played golf when I was about 10 years at the 9 hole Circle Golf Club in Wyebank, New Germany. I only started playing and caddied when I was in the army in 1988,” said the father of two who is also married to the chairperson of the Yellowwood Sports Club, Nadene.
When he isn’t on the golf course Nigel also enjoys competing in road cycling and mountain bike races. “I am currently a member of Kings Park Cycling Club based in Durban. I have been racing bicycles since 1982.” Like many outdoor lovers, he has been inconvenienced by the Covid-19 lockdown, but looks forward to when restrictions have been lifted,
“The Covid-19 lockdown has been a huge inconvenience to the golfing industry, a lot of revenue has been lost. For me personally I was due to play with my son on the weekend of the start of lockdown. I don’t know when we will play together again. Just have to be patient for now. I do have an indoor cycling trainer so am able to ride my bike and keep fit.”
