Park United secures semi-final spot

The second half saw Celtic push forward in search of another equaliser, but Park United’s defence stood firm under pressure.

PARK United produced a commanding display to defeat Celtic Club 5-2 in the Knockout Cup quarter-finals at Badulla Sports ground recently.

The Wentworth team has booked their place in the semi-finals, set to take place this weekend.

Park United started brightly and took control early in the match, applying pressure and moving with purpose.

Their breakthrough came in the 12th minute when a precise through pass split the Celtic defence, allowing the striker to finish calmly and give Park United a 1-0 lead.

Celtic managed to pull a goal back, reducing the score to 3-2 and briefly threatening a comeback. However, Park United responded immediately with a well-worked team move that ended in a powerful finish into the top corner, restoring their two-goal lead.

Park United continued to press and added another goal late in the match after a defensive lapse by Celtic, sealing a comprehensive 5-2 victory.

The result secures Park United a place in the semi-finals of the Knockout Cup.
