Dedicated team increases patrols after attempted kidnapping
The men dedicate their time and risk their lives daily to patrol the streets, with the aim of protecting the residents of Wentworth.
AN attempted kidnapping in Wentworth on Sunday night, 11 June has prompted a group of 10 men to take a stand by starting their own campaign to combat kidnappings or any threat to the youth of the community.
Founded by Jason Abrahams last Monday, 19 June, the men dedicate their time and risk their lives daily to patrol the streets, with the aim of protecting the residents of Wentworth. “After hearing about the kidnapping of the young woman, I noticed nobody was taking a stand to combat or drive out the perpetrators lurking in the shadows. Being a parent myself, I decided to take action and assemble a team of volunteers who are also passionate of the safety of our children and women,” said Abrahams.

Although the Proficient Tactical Security initiative is only a week old, the community has responded positively towards it and applauded the men for what they are doing. “We are here for security but also to ensure the community is not only safer but cleaner and more stable for future generations. The children should not be afraid to play in the park. We are here to give them back their childhood. They should not be living in fear,” he added.
He commended Wentworth police for increasing their visibility and hopes they will continue to forge a strong relationship. “My team patrol everyday and we were blessed enough to have such an involved community who want to be part of the change. We thank Louis Jerome for the vehicle sponsorship, Sean Norkie from First Based Promotions for printing and Rocky Clark for sponsoring security cameras at Wentworth primary schools. Thanks also to residents and businesses who have pledged, including Rodcon and Tyte Security. I am impressed by the dedication of the community and we are grateful,” said Abrahams.
The group of men did not start this in the hope of financial reward but to help a community in crisis.
“For years they have faced challenges and needed someone to be more hands-on in combating issues like crime, drugs and now kidnappings. As part of the community, we need to step up and step in. A lot needs to be done and with the continuous support of Wentworth, it will get better. To the kidnappers, take your hands off our community. We are going all out against this and other crimes. We will not tolerate this as we are taking a zero tolerance approach.”
