The SUN visited some schools to capture the moment as Grade One learners embarked on their first day of school.

SCHOOLS were buzzing as learners, new and returning, made their way back for the first day of school.

Despite the gloomy weather, the excited Grade One learners were all smiles for their first day. Anticipation filled the corridors of various Durban South primary schools. Teachers were ready to rid the learners of any nervousness with open arms and smiles.
