ANGELS of Mercy Care Centre hosted a training session for teachers on the Titus and Proverbs programme at the Collingwood Primary School in Wentworth on Wednesday, 12 June.

The two programmes formulated by retired forensic nurse, Jean Gauldie tackled subjects dealing with changes to girls and boys bodies during adolescence, where babies come from and dating and relationships. Social issues such as rape, human trafficking, how to avoid being kidnapped and acts of violence were also discussed. Jean is also a full-time volunteer and chairman of the Angels of Mercy Care Centre. Training has been provided free of charge to the school. Each child received a handbook.

“Our hope is that by providing this information to grade 2 and 3 pupils we are equipping them with the correct information to make informed decisions and help protect themselves against the many dangers they may encounter,” said Pat Bayley, director of Angels of Mercy Care Centre.

If any individuals or businesses would like to help by sponsoring these two programmes, call Pat Bayley on 082-296-8400 or Merle on 076-891-7884 or email patbayley@webstorm.co.za.
