Police awards pupil a medal for his kindness.
BLUFF Christian Academy pupil, Mpilo Mhlongo (18) received a Brighton Beach Safer Communities medal and certificate from Brighton Beach SAP's management for showing kindness to an eight-year-old schoolboy.

In May, Mpilo was on his way home when he saw the schoolboy standing on his own at a taxi rank. The young boy’s transport had not arrived to take him home, so he decided to catch a taxi. Mpilo then contacted the boy’s mother who made arrangements for her son to be picked up.
Although it was his 18th birthday, he waited with the boy until his transport arrived at 6pm. “It was getting dark. The police came to our school and informed us about stranger-danger and child trafficking. We hear about children being abducted daily. I was not going to let this happen to the boy and I decided to wait with him. It was the right thing to do and I think any other responsible person would have done the same,” said a humble Mpilo.
Brighton Beach SAP management commended Mpilo on his selflessness in keeping the boy safe. Through his kind efforts, Mpilo saved the boy from possibly becoming a child trafficking statistic.
