Woodhaven couple’s home raided at gunpoint

EIGHT gunmen stormed into a Woodhaven couple's home in Lourie Place on Thursday night, 18 July.

The men barged into the house and hit the husband on the wrist with their gun before commanding him to lie down on the lounge floor. His wife, who was washing dishes in the scullery, was grabbed by the men and made to lie down next to her husband.

They questioned them about where the jewellery was and where the safe was kept. One gunman guarded them, while the other men removed all electronic equipment from the house.

One of the men later demanded the wife’s car keys and asked to be shown how to open the garage. The couple were moved to a spare room in the house and tied-up. Fortunately the wife was not tied-up properly and she managed to slip out of her bonds and untie her husband.

They left the room to find their belongings stolen, along with their car. “We are very traumatised. The men were shouting and beat me up. I keep looking over my shoulder because of the fear of being attacked again,” said the man, who did not want to be named for fear of reprisal.

Montclair SAP’s W/O Rico Naidoo said no arrests have been made. “We are investigating the matter further and will make arrests soon. Anyone with information can call me on 084-366-1925.”
