WI members to go back in time for 1968 birthday theme

YELLOWWOOD Park Women's Institute (YWPWI) president Vanessa Wilesmith opened the meeting with the Mary Stewart Collect, and welcomed visitor for the evening and young member-to-be, Leonique Crampton.

Marsha Hart gave a report from the last meeting and Mary Rust assured all that YWPWI is solvent.

Many thanks were expressed to the members who visit Outspan and those who did magnificent work at Botanic Gardens. The big occasion at the end of August is the birthday party and the theme will be 1968, which is when the institute began.

Remember to take a plate of snacks and a raffle is always appreciated.

Vanessa read out the resolutions for Congress, to which all agreed. Happy birthday to Jean Donkin and Caryl Howard.

After tea, thanks to the tea members, clever and very crafty member Jean Ball showed everyone how to make a flower brooch. Some members were successful some were not.

The meeting ended with the raffle draw and Women’s Institute prayer. WI looks forward to seeing all members dressed as they would be in 1968.

Well done to all members, especially new members. Considering that YWPWI is a small institite, the entries are amazing.

The meeting is usually finished by 9.15pm.

All are welcome.
