Tears shed as thanks for donation
THE children at the Ocean View School and Place of Safety sang their thanks on Friday, 23 August for the donation of much-needed items and money by the staff of Standard Bank Operations Shared Services, Durban.
Toys, food, school supplies, books, blankets and a cheque were handed over to the school thanks to the transformation initiative set up by the staff at the company. Funds were raised throughout the year for various charities in need and the team always arrived to good cheer to deliver the needed money or items.
“We identified the school with the help of Juanita Davis, who is on the governing body of the school. They were in need of stationery and clothing, so asked our staff to bring in what they could,” said transformation chairman, Sandi James.
The children sang loudly, as the donations were laid out on the school stage and Juanita could not hold back the tears as she thanked the transformation team for the bounty they had delivered. “I was expected a cheque hand-over today, for which we are so grateful. I never expected so much more and you have no idea what it means to us. These children have so little and they are often forgotten, so thank-you for all you have done,” said Juanita.
