EDITOR – I cannot express my disappointment and disgust at the situation regarding the beaches over the festive season.
Certain people behave like savages with no regard for others.
They treat the beach and the entire area as if it is their right and not a privilege. The litter left behind is indescribable and so is their behaviour.
Regarding the lack of interest from Metro Police, I think we are entitled to a full explanation as to why they did not search cars as I was under the impression that this was the reason for them being there.
I might add that on previous occasions when cars have been searched, the Metro Police were not very thorough – this is obvious from the hundreds of beer and spirit bottles left lying around with all the other rubbish at the end of the day. The picnic area at the end of the road is always hardest hit.
After attending a meeting two months ago where the point of the meeting was to discuss improvements to the entire beach area, I sit with tongue in cheek and ask: Will it be worth spending millions on for the riff raff to enjoy and destroy?
I care.
