Documentary highlights animal sanctuary’s work

A three part documentary highlighting orphaned wildlife and the work that Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (Crow) and other centres in South Africa do to save them aired in the UK on Tuesday, 14 January.

Hosted by UK TV presenter and radio personality, Paul O’ Grady, the documentary features two of Crow’s beloved patients, Wendy the warthog and Lily, a blue duiker. Wendy’s release is documented in the third part of the documentary, which airs on Tuesday, 28 January on UK channel ITV. Unfortunately, South African viewers will not be able to view the documentary at this stage.

Director, Claire Hodgkinson said: “Crow is proud to be featuring in this informative documentary that seeks to make people aware of the plight of animal orphans and those organisations working to help save those animals and give them a second chance at life.”

“We hope the documentary will help to inspire people around the world to do what they can to help save these animals, be it through donations, volunteering or simply by spreading the word about the grave challenges our wildlife are currently facing through habitat loss, poaching and the illegal pet trade.”

The documentary was shot at the centre in September 2013.

Crow is hosting a Valentine’s Day dinner on Friday, 14 February. A three-course meal will be served at a cost of R170 per person. Diners will receive a goodie bag and free entrance to a draw for a weekend away.
