Wentworth pre-school teacher wins national award
A Wentworth pre-school teacher was chosen as the best in the country.

SOUTH Africa’s best early childhood development (ECD) practitioner is Wentworth’s Noblene Boyles, as decided at a glitzy SA ECD Awards ceremony in Johannesburg on Thursday, 13 March.
The annual SA ECD Awards shine a light on the ECD centres around the country and the people who work within them. Boyles was selected as KZN’s best practitioner in November 2013 and sent through to compete against the top provincial candidates from around the country this month.
She spent four days in Johannesburg, attending workshops, preparing for interviews and learning vital skills before she went through to the presentation and interview phase of the competition. The nine contenders were also treated to massages and given gifts and motivational talks during their stay.
Wentworth Crèche Forum (WCF) members were overjoyed when, at the awards ceremony at the Oliver Tambo Conference Centre, Boyles from Little David Educare was announced ECD practitioner of the year. “The women in the Wentworth ECD sector are pinching themselves and preparing for celebrations,” said WCF member, Gail Richards. “We can’t believe our ECD workers are on the map, not only locally, but nationally.”
Along with her new title, Boyles’ grand prize included a bursary for studies in ECD at Unisa. Boyles said she enjoyed the whole experience and was thrilled to ride the Gautrain and to be treated to a clothing shopping spree, Pick ‘n Pay voucher and other prizes.
