Stork treated for hook injuries at Crow

Stork released the following morning.

A woolly-necked stork rescued by Centre For Rehabilitation of Wildlife from the Durban Country Club on Thursday, 2 April was found with three hooks wedged in its foot and throat.

The team was called by the grounds keeper who reported the stork was limping and acting strangely.
On investigation, three hooks were found wedged in his right foot and inside his throat. He received intensive treatment throughout the night, which yielded positive results as he was given the all-clear the following morning. He was released back to Durban Country Club on Friday,3 April.

The stork was recently removed from the Red Data list for endangered species as they seem to be increasing in number. UKZN honours student, Claire Marchant who is currently studying the woolly-necked stork, requests you to email her at 214580747@stu.ukzn.ac.za if you have one in your garden or school.
