THE Bluff’s Roxi Wardman has clinched this year’s Masterchef SA title.
The 26-year-old beat Siphokazi Mdlankomo from Cape Town by eight points in the live final showdown on Thursday, 11 December.
Wardman and Mdlankomo faced off in a three round challenge – the invention test, dessert mystery box and a cook-off alongside world-renowned chef, Marco Pierre White.
Roxi walked off with the title with 75-points over Mdlankomo’s 67. “It feels like a complete dream. I don’t think it has sunk in yet. I feel so blessed and humbled by this whole experience,” said Wardman after her win.
Her family, friends and fans were supportive of her throughout the competition and social media immediately lit up with congratulations and words of support as she was given the title.
“My family is over the moon – they just want the whole world to know. Everyone is coming up to me and taking selfies and congratulating me,” she laughed.
Wardman’s prizes include R500,000 from Robertson’s, a new VW Tiguan, R100,000 worth of food from Woolworths, a trip to the French wine lands for her and a partner, a year’s worth of wines from Nederburg and a five night stay at the Maia Luxury Resort and Spa in the Seychelles, courtesy of Tsogo Sun.
Wardman plans to open a café and patisserie next year.
