Street meeting think-tanks on crime fight

There have been two hijackings in Doddington Crescent alone, in a very short space of time along with numerous other serious incidents.

A HUGE turnout of concerned residents of Doddington Crescent and Topping Place in Woodlands held an urgent street meeting on Friday night, 27 March.

Residents discussed their concerns and measures which could be implemented to combat the consistent spike of crime in their roads. There have been two hijackings in Doddington Crescent alone, in a very short space of time along with numerous other serious incidents.

Capt S Perumal from Montclair SAPS supported the community at their meeting, along with members of the newly elected CPF executive committee, security companies Park Patrol, Blue Security and Kombat, who offered solutions. Questions were posed by residents to all groups concerned, as to how the community could assist. They were urged by CPF chairman, Roy Wilson and the SPF chairman Mark Francis, to be especially vigilant and report suspicious incidents and persons to each other and SAPS, as well as to their relevant Whatsapp media groups.

Doddington Crescent resident, Cerrie Gunn was thanked for her outstanding efforts to start and host this project and for her encouragement of the community to interact with each other in this way. Residents were also instructed to report every criminal occurrence, no matter how seemingly trivial, to Montclair SAPS.
They were also requested to keep their outstanding attendance at this meeting committed for the long term and to regularly attend their SPF sub-sector meetings held on the third Tuesday of each month at the Montclair Recreational Hall. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, 21 April, which will also be advertised in the media.
