The man had six warrants of arrest in his name, including theft, shoplifting and housebreaking in Britz, Roodepoort and Krugersdorp.
During the operation, 27 taxis were examined by Metro Police, with 12 drivers charged for contravening the Road Traffic Act. Police arrested four people on charges of assault GBH, malicious damage to property or possession of heroin. Four knives, four stolen tyres, two straws of heroin and dagga were seized.
”I am pleased with the positive outcomes we achieved on the day. Many more such operations are planned as we approach the Easter festive season, as we will experience an influx of visitors and those with criminal intentions will follow. I thank the Metro Police, military police and our SAPS members for the duties they performed. The visibility of law enforcement agencies in our area also resulted in a decrease of crime incidents occurring on the day in our area,” said operational commander, Captain Sarel Kruger.
