FRIDAY TO SUNDAY, 8 TO 10 MAY: South African Writers’ Circle holds a writing weekend away entitled ‘Heart of darkness: Exploring the depths of historical fiction’ at King’s Grant Country Retreat near Ixopo. Charles van Onselen, author of ‘The Fox And The Flies’ is the keynote speaker with well-known local historian, Robin Lamplough as guest presenter. THURSDAY, 14 MAY: KwaZulu-Natal branch of the South African Military History Society meets at 7pm for 7.30pm in the Murray Lecture Theatre, Department of Civil Engineering, UKZN Howard College campus.
