The animal forward organisation said that loud fireworks can terrify birds, mongooses, other wildlife and pets too.

“This can lead to injuries, disorientation and animals possibly getting lost in the dark,” said Crow in a statement.

Safety tips from Crow

Crow shared four tips on how to celebrate responsibly:

  • Light fireworks away from trees and bushes
  • Keep pets safely indoors
  • Clean up debris and skip sky lanterns
  • Stay clear of protected areas and wildlife rehabilitation centres
