New PRO for Montclair CPF
The crime fighting enthusiast says the community needs to work together in the fight against crime.
JULIE Meyer has been appointed new PRO of the Montclair Community Police Forum (CPF).
This follows the resignation of Robyn Needham from her position to spend time with her daughter overseas.
Meyer has been a Montclair resident all her life. She attended Woodlands Primary and matriculated at Mowat Park High School. The newly appointed PRO says she is keen to fulfil her role. “I’ve always enjoyed working with the community. I would like to listen to the community’s concerns and try to make a difference. I have a great relationship with our fellow Montclair SAPS members, and want to work closely with them to the best of my ability to keep our community up to date with current crime issues in our area,” she said.
The 33-year-old previously worked with Montclair Crime Eye and formed Montclair Community Crime Prevention, a social media group which reports on crime in the area. Meyer says she has a passion for people and the community. She has also been part of community projects for the last two years. “I’ll leave my work day and go on patrol. Helping the community is what it’s all about,” she said.
The crime fighting enthusiast says the community needs to work together in the fight against crime. “If we don’t stand together, we won’t win the war on crime,” she said. Meyer describes herself as a policewoman ‘wannabe’ and wants to become a reservist in the near future.
She added that people must report crime, no matter how small. Meyer says that by reporting crime, police will be aware of where patrols are needed.
