WEDNESDAY, 13 MAY: Birdlife Port Natal indoor meeting will be held at ‘Rolling Hills’, Umhlanga at 7pm. Enjoy a fun evening of questions and answers, and all you want to know about birds by well known experts Roy Cowgill and Steve Davis. Call Lesley on 083-231-3408.

 

THURSDAY, 14 MAY: Montclair Senior Citizens Club members are to meet at Montclair Methodist Church hall between 10am and 10.30am for tea. Those members who have paid will thereafter depart for the club’s lunch outing.

 

THURSDAY, 14 MAY: KwaZulu-Natal branch of the South African Military History Society meets at 7pm for 7.30pm in the Murray Lecture Theatre, Department of Civil Engineering, UKZN Howard College campus. Speakers will be Donald Davies on ‘Leon Schauder – South African war correspondent’ and Major Dr John Buchan on ‘Aspects of atomic warfare’.

SATURDAY, 16 MAY: Ningizimu Special School car boot/flea market from 7am to 2pm in the school grounds in Kenyon Howden Road. Stalls are available at R70, which includes a table. This is to raise funds for the school’s recycling/upcycling venture which aims to empower pupils and provide employment to former pupils while using waste material that would normally end up in a landfill.

 

WEDNESDAY, 20 MAY: Birdlife Port Natal outing to iPhithi Nature Reserve, Everton at 8am. Take along a picnic basket and chairs. Call Sandi on 031-701-4839.

 

SATURDAY, 30 MAY: Bluff Methodist Church on the corner of Wesley and Pearce roads (behind Mediclinic) is holding a fête from 8am to 1pm. Breakfast, lunch, takeaways and bargains galore.

 

SATURDAY, 8 AUGUST: Umzinto Secondary School class of 1985 holds a 30-year reunion celebration at a local venue.
