Radio loan to beef up crime patrols
The CPF is on a drive to purchase radios, which is a costly affair and any donation from business in the area would be welcomed.
MONTCLAIR Community Policing Forum (CPF) patrol group, MCCP, this week received six radios on loan from Park Patrol, to be used while doing community patrols. The need for radio communications has been a long outstanding issue.
Members of the group would run up cell phone bills trying to stay in touch with each other, which became unacceptable. This after they tried CB radios, which didn’t work very well.
The CPF is on a drive to purchase radios, which is a costly affair and any donation from business in the area would be welcomed. In the meantime Park Patrol and the CPF have entered into an agreement whereby Park Patrol will loan the CPF six radios that will work off their repeater. These radios will allow patrolling members to quickly and easily communicate with each other as and when needed. The CPF will also in time make a radio available to the police station.
The idea is that the more visible community policing is, the harder criminals find it to commit crime. This dedicated group of individuals from the Montlands community wish to thank Park Patrol for taking up the challenge as part of business getting involved with helping the CPF to curb crime in the Montclair policing area.
