WARRANT Officer Poobalan Marimuthu has been appointed as Montclair SAPS’ new communications officer from Monday, 1 June.
He takes over from Lieutenant Leopold Jojozi.
Marimuthu or ‘Murray’ as he is known by his colleagues, completed his training at Wentworth Police Training College in 1984. He’s been situated at Montclair SAPS for 33 years. “I enjoy working with the public and interacting with different people,” he said. Formerly in the crime prevention unit, Marimuthu plans to do more campaigns and interact more with the public, schools and business sector.
The 53-year-old says he always wanted to be a policeman. “I want to do my part for society,” he said. As the new communications officer, Marimuthu added he has an open door policy. “The public can contact me anytime. I’m prepared to assist wherever possible,” he said.
