Police re-arrest most wanted thief

AN ALLEGED thief on Montclair SAPS’ top 10 wanted list who is wanted for several burglaries and who escaped police custody in January, was re-arrested in Umlazi on Wednesday, 3 June.

Siyabonga Ntuli (29) was wanted for theft in Montclair, Bellair, Mayville and Bayview.
Ntuli was arrested in Umlazi by Brighton Beach crime intelligence and Montclair detectives. Police linked him to seven housebreakings.

He attempted to committ suicide while in a holding cell on Tuesday, 27 January. On Wednesday, 28 January at about 4.35am, Ntuli managed to squeeze himself through the burglar bars of the cell and escaped. A case of escaping from lawful custody was opened following his escape.
Police worked day and night to track and trace Ntuli.

On Wednesday, 3 June investigating officer W/O Rico Naidoo received information that Ntuli was in Umlazi F-Section area. Police were deployed and observed the area.
At about 3.30pm W/O Naidoo and W/O Craigg Inggs and crime intelligence members arrested Ntuli in a house at F-Section.

He appeared in court on Thursday, 4 June and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Thursday, 2 July. He is being held at Westville Prison.
