Police crime tip-off campaign urges action
The South African Police Service has made available three ways in which law abiding citizens can make reports anonymously which will protect their identity.
BRIGHTON Beach SAPS hosted a public awareness campaign on Friday, 29 May and distributed pamphlets at local shopping malls to encourage community members to report those with criminal intentions

- Contact the Crime Stop tip-off line on 08600-10111,
- text a message to the SMS Crime Line to 3221 or
- visit the Crime Line webpage at www.crimeline.co.za.
The public must ensure they provide as much detail as possible, such as who did what to whom, when, where, why and how.
If members of the public do not know the name of the perpetrator/s they can use their alias or provide a full description. If you do not know the exact physical address you can provide a land mark, or even give a description of the house or building as long as the street name and area is provided.
“We all have a responsibility to make South Africa a safer place for children and every law-abiding citizen can showcase their responsibility by making a report.
“We would like to thank community members who have made reports to date, which is appreciated by the South African police, and we encourage future reports,” said media officer, Captain Louise Le Roux.
SAPS Brighton Beach management thanks Captain Le Roux for initiating the campaign, and the distribution of the 1,000 pamphlets and also thanks hosts Hillside Mall Bluff and the Bluff Towers Shopping Mall for hosting the team involved.
