A JOINT operation by Wentworth SAPS crime prevention and the provincial task team led to the arrest of a 32-year-old suspected drug dealer with a black bag full of dagga on Thursday, 11 June.
Under the command of Captain Lynton Houston, the team followed up on a tip-off about a man they had been looking into for dealing in drugs in Wentworth and Jacobs.
The officers were told that the 32-year-old man was seen on Quality Street with dagga. The policemen quickly found the man and searched him. They found 419,6 grams of dagga in 225 bank bags and a black bin bag with loose dagga, along with R1673,60 in cash.
The man, who lives in the Jacobs Hostel, appeared in Wentworth Court on Friday, 12 June and was released on R1,000 bail.
The joint Wentworth SAPS crime prevention and the provincial task team operation forms part of Operation Fiyela – to arrest and prosecute drug dealers and get Wentworth free from drugs.
