A BLUFF woman was arrested by Wentworth SAPS in possession of 24 straws of heroin, following a tip-off from a community member on Wednesday, 10 June.
At about 8.30am, police were informed that a woman was seen with drugs in a Woodville Road flat.
When officers arrived at the location, they noticed a woman matching the description entering the flat.
The officers knocked on the door and were allowed to enter. When Constable B Biyela searched the woman, she found a plastic packet containing 24 straws of heroin hidden under her clothes.
The woman appeared in Wentworth court on Thursday, 11 June and was released on R2,000 bail.
“The police in Wentworth appeal to the community to come forward with information of drug trafficking in the area and anonymity is guaranteed. These numbers can be contacted to report drugs activities: Crime Stop on 08600-10111 or the Flying Squad on 10111. The police commend community members who assist in fighting the drug scourge and reporting any other crimes happening in the area. The officer who searched and found drugs has been commended by station management,” said Wentworth SAPS communications officer, Lieutenant M Gumede.
