Armed hijackers strike twice in three days

Criminals have left people shaken up

GUN-toting criminals have left two people shaken up in Woodlands after two hijackings in three days.

On Friday, 5 June at about 6.20 pm, a woman who had dropped off a friend in Cathcart Road found herself face-to-face with an armed hijacker who demanded her car. She quickly got out the vehicle, a Toyota Auris and gave the man her keys. She then heard gun shots and realised there were two other men with the hijacker, all of whom got in the car and raced off.

Two days later, at about 8.30pm in Verity Road, a man who was waiting outside a home for his brother had a gun pointed at him and was forced out of his car. The man fled in the Mercedes Benz, while his accomplices followed in a sedan.

The man’s brother called his tracking company and the car was recovered two hours later in Umlazi.
