Road closed after crash leaves concrete pole teetering
Overhead cables that were damaged pose a danger
THE force of an early morning crash on Bluff Road left a concrete pole teetering on the edge of collapse today, Wednesday, 8 July.
The motorist whose car hit the pole miraculously escaped with minor injuries after striking the pole along Bluff Road near Beacon Road at about 4.10am.
The cause of the accident is unknown.
Netcare 911 paramedics found the roadway obstructed with accident debris and the vehicle’s twisted frame. The motorist was found at the side of the roadway. The electricity department had to be called to the scene as overhead cables were damaged and posed a danger.
After paramedics treated the man at the scene, they transported him to a Durban hospital.
The road will be obstructed for some time while electric cables and the pole are being repaired.
