Kaleidoscope birthday party for Stainbank
This year the show was produced and directed by Bernadette Jarman and what a great success it was.
STAINBANK Women’s Institute president Arlene Greenfield welcomed the many members and visitors to their 43rd birthday party.
It was good to see executive member Maureen Lavis and the surprise visit from Cape Town from Trish Braun.
After the singing of Unity and the Women’s Institute prayer, vice president Linda Hewer read out the many greetings received from other institutes in the Southern Hills area. Carol Tyers and Anne de Goede never forget birthdays. Arlene thanked the committee and the many members who assisted with the amazing table decorations.
As usual thanks must go to Maureen Bailey for the unique programmes she produces every year, and to Linda for the birthday cake which was cut by the president, who then handed out many long-serving badges to members Donna Chelin, Shirley Kruger, Heather Sumpton, Elizabeth Keith, Angela Peters and Bernadette Jarman. The prize for the most enthusiastic member must go to Sheila von der Zon, who is always ready to assist and the star award to Connie Stringer, very able treasurer. Who else could the ‘wooden spoon’ go to but Linda Hewer. Congratulations members. Birthdays this month are Elizabeth Keith, Monica Wilson and Joy McDonald. Anniversaries are Lyn Graham and Marsha Hart. The many raffles were drawn and then after enjoying a fully loaded tea table, it was on with the show.

It was wonderful to see some new faces in the choir and they were really welcomed, each member singing their own special song. Members were also fortunate to have Tony Fisher of the famous Blarney Brothers as a guest on the show, which was a pleasant surprise. Thank you very much to choir members who put in many hours of practice. Those interested in joining the choir can get in touch with Arlene or Bernadette. You will be assured of a warm welcome.
Arlene reminded members that Stainbank will be having a stall at the Tafta fete and all goodies will be greatly appreciated The wonderful morning of friendship then closed with the Mary Stewart Collect.
