City officials take SDB bus tour

This was a build-up to the strategic tour which will be hosted in March 2016

THE preliminary strategic South Durban Basin (SDB) tour was held recently, with municipal officials bussed around the area to gain an insight into the needs of the communities.

Hosted by the SDB Area Based Management (ABM) office, officials from various eThekwini municipality departments gathered to tour the SDB. The purpose of the excursion was to expound on projects completed, underway or planned for the area, as well as to take note of crucial service delivery challenges.

“We have used this platform as a build-up to the strategic tour which will be hosted in March 2016,” said SDB ABM municipal services manager, Sifiso Xulu.

This second tour will be expanded to include civil society organisations, businesses, ward councillors and ward committee members.

“We will also use this tour to profile the area with a view to change its image. This will be achieved through highlighting completed projects and those that are in the pipeline. This will also include projects that are in line with the Clean my City campaign, an initiative that seeks to inculcate a culture of keeping our areas clean at all times,” he said.
