Angels visit Yellowwood Park WI
Thoughts are with Gerda, Caryl and Sharon at the moment.
YELLOWWOOD Park Women’s Institute (YWPWI) meeting opened on a cold evening but members were fortunate to have two angels visit as their speakers.
The first angel was from the Angels of Mercy, represented by Pat Bayley and Rebecca Whitehead.
What amazing work these angels do with all their prem babies and their mothers. The good news is that the Angels of Mercy are moving to Clairwood Hospital with all sorts of new facilities, and particularly a baby home so that these babies can be given a really good start in life.
Pat said she is always grateful for the assistance that she gets from the WIs in the area, and is always glad to receive lots of beanies and bootees. YWPWI was fortunate to be able to hand over a large bundle to Pat for her babies. The second angel was Ros Botha who every day, come rain or shine, feeds the feral cats near the Chamberlain Road area, all from her own pocket. These wonderful angels both had interesting stories to tell of their volunteer work.
After tea, YWPWI president Vanessa Wilesmith continued with the meeting. The treasurer and secretary read their reports. They need to know if any member is unwell so that WI can assist where possible. Thoughts are with Gerda, Caryl and Sharon at the moment. Get well soon, everyone misses you.
The fidget cushions will be handed over at the Outspan Residential Home frail care patients on 5 August. YWPWI wants to collect items for the seniors goodie bags and to assist with the feeding of the cats from the proceeds of the fete which it understands is still to be held. Birthday wishes to Caryl Howard and Jean Donkin.
YWPWI’s birthday party will be held on 31 August and it is hoped that all members and friends will attend. The next Botanic Gardens volunteer duty will be on 22 August.
