Appeal to WI members to assist with prem baby project
Members are reminded to bring along a prized possession to talk about.
PRESIDENT of Woodlands Women’s Institute, Maureen Lavis opened the July meeting by welcoming all members and judge, Linda Melson, and asked everyone to remember those members who were ill while reciting the Mary Stewart Collect.
After the business part of the meeting, tea was served and the very yummy snacks were enjoyed by all. Thank you to members who were on tea duty.
After tea Maureen introduced Pat Bayley, director of Angels of Mercy Care Centre, who came along to tell the members about a new project she is starting at Clairwood Hospital, where volunteers are asked to assist with crafts or other activities for the new mothers whose babies are born prematurely and are then allowed to stay on at hospital until their babies are able to be discharged. Pat asked if any members would be able to give up just one or two hours of their time to help out and mentioned prem baby beanies and other baby items and toiletries are always greatly appreciated.
A cash donation and baby beanies were handed over to Pat from the institute members.

Well done to all who entered the competitions, keep entering and remember all points awarded during the year go towards prize-giving results next year at the birthday party.
Maureen closed the meeting with the saying of the Women’s Institute prayer and reminded all that the next meeting will be held on Friday, 7 August. Visitors are most welcome to attend at the Montclair recreational hall, 191 Wood Road, Montclair, at 9am for 9.30am. Members are reminded to bring along a prized possession to talk about.
