AHEAD of the World Forestry Congress (WFC) from 7 to 11 September, the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) hosted a workshop with local youth to get them to engage in environmental matters.
The workshop, held in early July at the John Dunn hall, was attended by about 120 youngsters who eagerly spoke about the environment and the importance of protecting it.
Following this discussion, SDCEA and Timberwatch will host Civil Society Alternative events during the WFC, with a march on paper, pulp and plantations scheduled for 10 September.
The WFC happens every six years, this being the first time it will be held in South Africa.
