SATURDAY, 5 SEPTEMBER: KZN Quilters Guild quilt show and open day from 9am until noon at Durban Girls High School, Glenwood, corner of Lena Arendse (Manning) and Penzance Roads. Entry for visitors is R40. Call Pauline on 082-806-9149.

SATURDAY, 5 SEPTEMBER: Birdlife Port Natal outing to Durban Botanic Gardens at 7.15pm. At the end of the walk everyone will enjoy the culinary delights at the kiosk. Call Lesley on 083-231-3408.

SUNDAY, 6 SEPTEMBER: The smell of greasepaint got too much for entertainer Colin Penn and his Pennants, Mike Cameron and John Corlett and after a ‘sabbatical’ of 18 months, they have a really fun show of the best snippets of Colin’s 61-year career at Toti Civic Centre supper room. SATURDAY, 12 SEPTEMBER: Fynnland Sports Club holds its own rugby world cup opening ceremony with junior touch rugby at 10am, senior touch rugby at 1pm and an Irish auction at 7pm. Lots of drinks specials, music, jumping castle for the children and food on sale. Contact the club on 031-466-2010.

TUESDAY, 15 SEPTEMBER: Transnet Pensioners Action Group’s (TPAG) annual general meeting will be held in the Dutch Reformed Church hall, at 7 Jo Naude Road, Malvern at 10am. It is important for all Transnet pensioners to attend as the implications of the recent court victory and the way forward in the court action will be handled as well as other pensioner matters.
