DURBAN Academy gave a little back to their community by collecting and distributing blankets to those in need.
The teachers and pupils at the school started the campaign in honour of Nelson Mandela Day and the 67 blankets campaign.
Those involved knitted or crocheted blankets with the aim of distributing them to disadvantaged community members.
‘Charity begins at home’ was the ideal behind the campaign and the blankets were given to St. Barnabas Anglican Church’s Reverend Nqinti, who will disperse them.
This being the first time Durban Academy teachers and pupils have participated in the project, they said it was a fulfilling experience and are pleased to know they are keeping people warm when they have so little.
