A taxi driver was shot and his passenger wounded in a shoot-out on the Quality Street on-ramp to the M4 in Jacobs this morning, Friday, 18 September.
According to Brighton Beach police, a car pulled up next to the taxi and opened fire, hitting the male driver in the side and his female passenger sustained minor shrapnel injuries at about 7am.
The cause for the shooting is unknown.
The driver was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition. The taxi was bound for the Durban taxi rank.
“Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that the driver of the taxi had sustained serious injuries, while the passenger was grazed by a bullet,” said Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha.
