Guard arrested for fatal shooting
Guard shoots man who was chasing housebreakers.
On Wednesday, 30 September a security guard shot and killed a Montclair man who was chasing down criminals who had broken into his house.
At about 4pm, a local man was running after men who had broken into his home. Carrying his gun, he followed them to the Clairwood railway lines near South Coast Road.
An on-duty security guard, unaware of what was going on, saw the armed man allegedly shooting in his direction and he returned fire. The man died on scene.
The security guard was arrested by Montclair SAPS and the investigation is ongoing.
