Montclair school choir entertains Stainbank WI

STAINBANK Women’s Institute (WI) president Arlene Greenfield opened the fully packed meeting with a warm welcome to everyone and thoughts to those who were not well.

After the singing of Unity, the mini market got underway with many stalls doing great business.

Many thanks to all the stall holders who participated in the market.

Once again there was an entertaining talk by the representative from Fouriesburg Tours who advised of all the exciting tours on offer. Then it was time for the tea break. Many thanks to members who assisted and again the stalls were doing busy trade.

After tea, the highlight of the morning was being entertained by the talented choir from Montclair Junior Primary School. What a wonderful choir they are and all so enthusiastic. It was a great pleasure to listen to the young voices.

Then it was time for the usual business of the day. The secretary read out the minutes and correspondence, especially a letter of thanks from the Seafarers Mission asking if any members wished to assist in packing the Christmas treats for sailors in the port. The treasurer gave the usual finance report. Many thanks again to those members who knitted mittens and beanies. All members are to note that the Christmas party will be held on 8 December at the usual time. All members are to take along a plate of snacks.

Birthday members for the month were wished a happy day and congratulations to those celebrating anniversaries. So many members are over the 50-year mark or just about. Unfortunately Lyn Haines will be relocating to Johannesburg and Stainbank WI will certainly miss her. The raffle, money board and swindle were all read out with a lot of happy faces receiving prizes. The busy meeting closed with the Mary Stewart Collect.
