A MAN was shot dead at the corner of Major Calvert and Woodville Roads in Wentworth yesterday afternoon (September 22).

According to sources at the scene, the victim was walking on Major Calvert when two men approached him on foot and opened fire on him.

The suspects fled the scene on foot moments after the shooting.

Angry community members gathered at the scene and demanded justice for the victim and called for those responsible for his killing to be brought to book.

One of the residents who asked to remain anonymous said the victim was well known in the area, and was not known to be involved in any wrongdoings.

Wentworth police spokesperson Captain Mbuso Gumede was not immediately available for comment at the time of publishing.
