Body pulled from waves

Fisherman retrieved the body between Ansteys and Treasure Beach

AN afternoon at the beach turned grisly when a group of friends helped a fisherman retrieve the body of a man from the waves between Ansteys and Treasure Beach on Saturday, 14 November.

A Bluff resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, said she was relaxing on the sand between the two beaches with three friends at about 12.15pm, when a fisherman asked to use their cellphone to call the police.

He asked for their help to retrieve the body of a black man, which was being pulled to and fro by the wave action.

“We called the police and helped him drag the man’s body out of the waves,” said the resident.
“The body was naked and it appeared as though he had been assaulted.”

The man appeared to be aged between 20 and 30-years-old.

“My friends and I waited for about an hour and a half, but left before the police arrived, because the weather was changing.”
