PUPILS have been warned by police to steer clear of the influences of drugs in and outside of school.
This warning follows after an arrest was made on Wednesday, 27 January by Wentworth SAPS members, Captain Houston, Lt Gumede and Cst Khan.
They received information from a member of the public of an alleged suspect who was in possession of drugs and cash hidden in his clothing. The officers who were told that the man was on a school premises made their way there and noticed him leaving the school. The man was searched but nothing was found on him at that stage. Cpt Houston then requested for the suspect to accompany them to the station where he would be searched in a private room. “At the station, the man was stripped searched and Cpt Houston found a clear plastic packet containing seven sealed capsules suspected to be heroin inside his underwear and R270 in cash,” said Lt Gumede.
Wentworth SAPS commended the member of the public who provided the information to police. Cpt Houston also added that any person who is searched and any drugs found in his/her possession will be seized, no matter how small the drugs are and will be charged and sent to jail. Pupils in school are warned not to be used by drug peddlers to smuggle or hide drugs on them since the police are also searching any suspicious persons.
