Meeting about Clairwood development
Local groups plan to speak out against development of logistics park.
THE South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) and other local organisations will host a public meeting on Wednesday, 2 March to discuss concerns about the development of the Clairwood Logistics Park.
Residents from Clairwood, Wentworth, the Bluff, Isipingo, Merebank, Umlazi and Lamontville have been invited, along with KZN economic development, tourism and environmental affairs MEC, Michael Mabuyakhulu and Fortress Income Fund (FIF) development manager, Nico Prinsloo.
“South Durban residents are mourning the loss of the Clairwood Racecourse and believe this development of a logistics park and trucking facility is unacceptable and feel the decision made by the MEC disregarded the concerns of the people that it will affect negatively,” said SDCEA environmental project officer, Priya Pillay.
The meeting will be held at the Merebank Community Centre from 6pm.
