16-year-old dancer heads to the USA
Some R14,000 is needed to be raised for him to attend the international event.
NON-profit dance organisation, Dance Movement will host a fundraising dance matinee for the youth on Friday, 18 March, at the Austerville community hall at 2.30pm.
All proceeds will go towards helping 16-year-old dancer, Sherwin Green to take his dancing career to an international level. Green who is part of Dance Movement, administered under the NGO Wentworth Arts and Culture organisation, will compete at the ITS arts convention in Florida, USA in July. Some R14,000 is needed to be raised for him to attend the international event.
Competing in the ITS arts convention will allow Green the opportunity to showcase his dancing talent as well as provide great exposure to Hollywood agents, directors, managers and choreographers. “This is beyond what I have dreamed of and I feel so blessed to have this opportunity. I’m very excited and anxious as I know the level at the convention will be high. I train everyday in preparation for it,” said Green.
He will be joining 60 other South African hopefuls who were selected for the arts convention. He will be competing against 2,000 dancers, singers, actors and models worldwide to have an opportunity to breakthrough in Hollywood as well as stand a chance of winning representation by international agents, film roles and bursaries to study at the New York Film Academy.
The community is asked to support the teenager. There will be a line-up of DJs, including the well known, DJ Wayniac. The dance matinee will include a short stint of Sherwin’s talents and prizes will be up for grabs.
