YELLOWWOOD Park Women’s Institute (WI) president Vanessa Wilesmith opened the meeting with a greeting to all members and the many visitors, after which the Mary Stewart Collect was said in unison.
Thoughts are with any members who are unwell at the moment and members hope to see them again soon.
The secretary and treasurer gave their reports and thank you letters were read from John Dunn House, Guide Dogs Association and WI’s own Evelyn House, some of the many charities that YWPWI supports. Members are to note that subs are now due, and members should advise if they intend resigning or transferring. All fees for Congress have been paid. The YWPWI president advised that she will not be standing again as president and called for nominations for the position and to be on the committee.
Members are asked to give this a lot of thought.
After tea there was a most interesting talk by Kim van Wyk on how to correctly use a microphone. He said that it was essential the microphone is at the correct height, and that you know what you are talking about. Anyone can speak, just practise once or twice.
On tea duty for March are Bev and Angela and the sales table Joan, Gerda and Ann. Happy birthday to wonderful judge, Linda Melson.
Meals on Wheels duty is on 14 March and Botanic Gardens duty is on 27 March. Many thanks to all the wonderful WI members who organised the white elephant stall recently at Woodlands Sports Club.
The group AGM will be held on l April at Woodlands. YWPWI hopes all members will enter the competitions.
