TRAFFIC ALERT: N3 to be closed at Hammersdale
Motorists are urged to proceed with caution and adhere to speed limits.
South Durbanites who plan to use the N3 at Hammarsdale this afternoon would do well to plan an alternate route, owing to blasting operations which have been scheduled for 3pm today (Tuesday, 18 October).
Spokesman for the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL), Noluthando Lamula said the upgrade to the Hammersdale interchange will see both carriageways of the N3 between the Cato Ridge and Peacevale Interchanges closed between 3pm and 4pm. “However, the blasting time may need to be adjusted depending on weather conditions. If need be, a second notice with information of the new time will be made available. Traffic will be diverted onto the R103 at Shongweni and Cato Ridge interchanges,” she added.
Due to the close proximity of the blast site to Meadway Road and MR385, it will be necessary to close Meadway Road and MR385 in the vicinity of the interchange during the blast operation. Traffic on Meadway Road will be diverted via Thousand Hills Drive.
