Mill donates paper to schools, NGOs
The Merebank mill donates more than 8,000 reams of paper to over 90 schools and non profit organisations each year.
SCHOOLS and non-government organisations (NGOs) in the South Durban Basin and Umlazi were delighted to receive Rotatrim photocopy paper from Mondi last week.
The Merebank mill made the donation to local schools and NGOs as part of its corporate social investment.
Paper is the lifeblood of schools as hundreds of sheets are used to educate learners – to print and photocopy. The donations of boxes of paper to each of the schools will allow for the photocopying and printing of the necessary notes, exam papers, journals and reports.

Leonard Mbokazi, Mondi Merebank CSI manager said: “Paper production is our core business at the Merebank Mill and the donation of paper makes a huge contribution to the optimal functioning of our neighbourhood schools. The Rotatrim brand of paper regarded as South Africa’s leading office paper, is part of our Green Range of products that guarantee excellent quality without compromising on environmental performance.”

Mondi for the donations. Venu Naidoo, principal of Isipingo Secondary, which has 998 pupils, said; “We are extremely grateful for the annual paper donations which ensure we cope under extreme
budget constraints. Our school caters for learners from disadvantaged communities. The support from Mondi over the years has played a tremendous role in ensuring we achieve academic excellence.”
